On Thursday 12 April 2018 we ran a Facebook Live event for the CMTO, and it was a fascinating experience. The session was a repeat of an earlier CBAA Webinar on Station Technical Architecture – a really important topic, and one of the things we cover now in the “Tech for the Non Technical” class run by CMTO.
The session was a complete operational success, but not everything was happy technically. For instance, Facebook refused to recognise the laptop webcam, even though every other app was perfectly happy with it. So at the last moment, the source device was switched to a mobile phone and a wired headset. Like all last-minute uses of technology that hasn’t been checked, there was a glitch that only became apparent after the transmission – in this case, induced hum from the headset lead. But… in the best tradition of “the show must go on”, it certainly worked.
