TR19 closer than you think:

Starts 3 May

Earlybird Registration open!

This email comes to you because you have an interest in Community Broadcasting and keeping community broadcasters on the air.   Please help us by forwarding this note post-haste (ie: click here) to your technology team and anyone who might be interested.

If you didn’t get Progress Report One then click here to see what Technorama 2019 is  all about.   It’s this year’s gathering of the people who make technology happen at your station, and at community broadcasting stations across the country.   We get together with our community of technologists, and our partners:  the CBF, CBAA, CMTO and First Nations Media, along with vendors, other associations and all the interested people who get your station to air and keep it there.

TR19 runs 3-5 May and all the detail is on our website at technorama.org.au.  This year we’re back at the Campbelltown RSL, only a short one hour train ride directly from Sydney airport.

What’s news?

See below for pointers to the 26 March Technorama Tuesdays webinar on Project Management, and find out about some monitors that are available for the taking in Melbourne.

FLASH:  Education day just announced.  This year our focus is Project Management (aha – so you might want to sign up for the webinar too!).  On 3 May, expert Project Manager Julie Spencer will run a one-day class at entry-level, and at low-low pricing.  For $45 you will get the same training that costs $800+ in the real world.  More information and registration here.

Awards open

Award nominations for this years six exciting categories close on 24 March at 2359.  Don’t wait – you only have a week.   Nominate a colleague, a manager, someone you admire.   Everything you need to know is on the form, and it’s not complicated.  If someone has impressed you with what they’ve done, give them the public hug they deserve – even just being nominated is an honour.   Apply from this page.

Change the balance

Anyone who is outside the traditional technologist demographic (male and probably older) is likely to qualify for the Represent! Bursary and be able to attend TR19 at no charge.  We cover attendance, travel and living costs.  Why?  Because it’s important to encourage diversity.  The Represent! Bursary is open to people who who are aged between 18 and 26, and/or who don’t identify as male.  Applications close next week on Friday 22 March.   See here for how – you can nominate someone else or nominate yourself.

Earlybird rate right now

For around $100 you get the full weekend of everything.  All you need to do is get there, and we have some information on the website that will help you find the hotel and your way from the airport.

Technorama Tuesday Webinar

The next webinar is on 26 March, and it’s the intro to Project Management.    If you’d like to know what might be covered in the class, and what Project Management is all about:  here’s the taster experience.   Join Julie for an hour of explanation, useful tips, Q&A, and a backgrounder to why Project Management is important.   No charge for the Webinar, and all you have to do is pre-register here.

Gear for asking

Cameron Paine at 3RRR (Melbourne) has some older but working PC monitors looking for a good home.   He also has an assortment of CD, minidisc and DAT players (some recorders too) which are good for parts or maybe more.   Some are even “close to pristine”.   Contact Cameron directly via email:  cameronp@rrr.org.au

And the rest?

Need to know more, like what’s on the program, who’s the Special Guest of Honour (it’s Richard Fleming), how do you sign up, what else do you need to find out?   It’s all on the Technorama website
